Clubs at Wenona

The start of the academic year brings one of our most anticipated events – the Clubs Showcase, featuring the remarkable range of activities that make life for Wenona students so dynamic and engaging.

From the thoughtful discussions staged by the Amnesty Club, to the lively Busking Club performances that overtake the Undercroft at lunchtime on Fridays, Wenona Clubs reflect our students’ commitment to diverse causes and interests. What sets them apart is how they blend enjoyment with purpose – many include elements of social justice and fundraising that extend their impact well beyond our School gates.

The Model United Nations Club, for example, provides students with a chance to develop invaluable skills of negotiation, conflict resolution and cooperation. The Music Therapy Group performs at retirement homes and special education facilities, learning valuable lessons about empathy and community service. It is an experience that broadens their outlook and teaches them how to use music for joy and communication.

The W Club gives aspiring journalists and artists a professional platform through the School's own print publication and website – a remarkable opportunity more commonly found at university level. Other clubs such as the Gender Equity Club, enable students to research and reflect on contemporary interests and concerns.

Another key to the Wenona Clubs system is that it is entirely student-driven, with club leaders taking responsibility for everything from attendance tracking to event planning. This hands-on leadership experience helps develop organisational skills that serve our students well beyond their School years.

Membership to clubs is open to all students from Years 7 to 12, with the simple requirement of regular attendance and participation. It's a commitment that pays dividends in unexpected ways – whether through new friendships, discovered talents, or the satisfaction of making a difference in the community.

As our clubs begin another exciting year of activities, they continue to demonstrate Wenona’s commitment to fostering Renaissance women imbued with our Values of Courage, Strength, Grace, Wisdom, and Kindness.
