Book Week 2022

Plunging into literature across the Junior and Senior School, for Book Week 2022.

Almost every genre and book classic was represented in the playground from the Harry Potter series to The Great Gatsby and Dr Seuss.

Even our Senior School students got into the costume craziness, along with a large group of good sports among the teaching staff.

Junior School girls spent time judging shortlisted books in the Children's Book Council of Australia Awards, and we all pitted our wits against a range of fun questions in the Book Week Quizlet.

Popular authors Hilary Rogers (of Maddy Mara fame) and Remy Lai (Pie in the Sky and Fly on the Wall), dropped into the Junior School to give the girls tips on improving their own creative writing.

Top-rated illustrator Cheryl Orsini (The Travelling Bookshop and Four All at Sea) visited students in Kindergarten to Year 2, to talk about her beautiful drawings, which are loved by children and parents alike. She also took the time to help the girls with their own illustrations, and participated in the production of some fabulously colourful badges.

Tobias Madden, the author of Anything but Fine and Take a Bow, Noah Mitchell visited Middle School students, delighting them with his fabulously engaging presentation style, honed by a decade performing in some of Australia's top musical productions.

Prize-nominated Chinese-American author Wai Chim (The Surprising Power of a Good Dumpling) fascinated Upper School students, by detailing her experiences growing up in New York as the child of Chinese immigrants and highlighting the need for more authentic voices from the migrant diaspora in young adult literature.
