Mother Daughter Breakfast
Our Year 3 to 6 girls and their mothers celebrated Motherhood over breakfast with guest speaker and mother of four Wenona Junior School girls, Larissa Davies. Larissa and her husband founded Bright Employment in 2013, a company that provides employment opportunities for new migrants, including asylum seekers and refugees.
Larissa spoke about how managing work and family is a challenge but balance is key, and doing sport or hobbies to keep mum and dad happy is important. Larissa reminded us of the many and varied roles involved in being a mother—teacher, chef, cleaner, carer, taxi driver, handywoman, IT helpdesk operator and so on. Mothers are only human, and some things won’t be perfect. Busy schedules are inevitable but the key is giving the children time to imagine, time for regular daydreams.
The relationship between mothers and daughters is truly special and Wenona Year 6 girls concluded the breakfast, thanking mothers for the wonderful job they do.
