Wenona on the National Stage

An Australian record. National gold in the pool. A place at the 2026 Junior Pan Pacific Swimming and World Athletics U20 Championships … Term 2 saw students from Year 5 to Year 12 compete and win, at the highest levels across a dozen sports, raising the standard for all Wenona students who engage in the sporting arena.

On the track, Maya T (Year 12) won gold in both the 100m and 200m at the Australian Junior Championships, each a personal best, and ran in a 4x100m relay that set a new national record. She has since earned selection for the 2026 World Athletics U20 Championships.

In the pool, Kira L (Year 12) took gold in the 100m Freestyle at the Australian Age Championships and was named to the Swimming Australia National Flippers Squad and earned selection for the Junior Pan Pacific Swimming Championships, while Ali Sharp (Year 12) powered relay golds at CIS and NSW All Schools level.

These performances sit within a deep and driven cohort. Across the term, Wenona students earned representative honours in sports from water polo and hockey to sailing, rowing and fencing, and our teams advanced through IGSA and CIS competition in touch football, basketball, netball and cross country.

Even our youngest athletes made their mark, with three Year 6 students achieving gold at the NSW PSSA Hockey Championships. They are set to compete at the national titles in October.

This is only a fraction of what Wenona students achieved across sport this term, with much more to come in Term 3.
