Our Enrolment Process

Joining Wenona

We are pleased you are considering Wenona for your daughter. Choosing a school is one of the most important decisions a family makes. The information that follows explains how to apply, the year groups in which girls join us, and the scholarships available. 

Our Enrolments team is here to answer your questions and to guide you from first enquiry through to enrolment.

Our enrolment process

  • Girls may enter Wenona in Kindergarten, Year 3, Year 5 and Year 7
  • Limited places in other year groups may become available
  • Boarding is offered from Years 7 to 12
  • International students are welcome to apply (Wenona is CRICOS-approved).

The enrolment process begins two years prior to commencement, with 2028 interviews currently underway.

For entry in 2026 and 2027, we encourage you to contact the Enrolments Team to discuss availability, as places may arise throughout the year as family circumstances change.

 
 

How to apply

  1. Submit and online Application for Enrolment for each child, including a reference, birth certificate and the non-refundable $400 application fee
  2. Applications are placed on a waitlist by date received and enrolment priority. The enrolment process begins two years before entry (see Application Conditions for further information)

Offers of place

  • Girls may enter Wenona in Kindergarten, Year 3, Year 5 and Year 7
  • Limited places in other year groups may become available
  • Boarding is offered from Years 7 to 12
  • International students are welcome to apply (Wenona is CRICOS-approved).

Communication to families

Keep your contact details up to date with the Enrolments Team. All communication is via email; if we cannot reach you, your application may be cancelled.

Overseas Students

Wenona welcomes students from around the world and is registered to accept Full Fee-Paying Overseas Students.

Our Enrolments Team is happy to liaise directly with families, or families may wish to use an International Education Agent to assist with their application.

  • Students in Years 7 to 12 are required to live in our Boarding House during term time.
  • Students in Kindergarten to Year 6 may be granted permission by the Principal to live with a parent who resides full-time in Sydney and holds a valid Guardian Visa.

Wenona requires that any overseas student fulfil the following prerequisites for enrolment:

Academic achievement

The student must have the academic background to commence the course for which she wishes to enrol. Academic reports from the previous two years are required with the Application for Enrolment.

English proficiency

Overseas students in Years 4 to 12 must demonstrate competence in English and provide a recent AEAS or IELTS assessment with their application. Students may need to complete a period of intensive study at an Australian language college.

Guardian and student welfare

An overseas student must have a responsible adult appointed as her guardian, to act as a parent in all matters relating to School policy, order and discipline.

Scholarships

Wenona offers academic, music, all-rounder and boarding scholarships, alongside means-tested scholarships made possible by the generosity of the Wenona Community.

Awarded to young women of talent, integrity and promise, these scholarships recognise merit and nurture potential.

Wenona School Scholarships

(2028 entry)

Wenona is delighted to offer a range of Scholarships in 2028:
Academic – Year 7 and Year 11
Music – Year 7
All Rounder – Years 7, 8, 9, 10, 11
Boarding – Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 (external applicants only)
  • Full or part remission of boarding fees only
  • External and internal applicants are encouraged to apply (except for Boarding Scholarships)
  • All applicants are required to sit the AAS online exam held on Friday 21st August 2026
  • Shortlisted applicants will be invited to an interview by the end of Term 3, 2026

Wenona Foundation Scholarships

(2027 entry)

The Wenona Foundation opens doors for remarkable young women through its means-tested scholarships. These are awarded to students who demonstrate leadership potential, academic ability and alignment with the School’s Values. They include the:
  • DalCorp Scholarship
  • Barbara Jackson Alumnae Scholarship
  • Renaissance Women’s Scholarship
  • The Wenona Indigenous Scholarship

  1. Request an application form from the Foundation team at foundation@www.wenona.nsw.edu.au. Applications for 2027 scholarships open on Friday 1st May, 2026
  2. Submit the completed application with supporting financial documentation by Friday 17th July, 2026
  3. Shortlisted applicants sit an Academic Assessment Services (AAS) online exam early in Term 3, 2026
Full tuition fees are included, and in selected cases boarding fees as well.

The DalCorp Scholarship

Established in 2005 as a partnership between the Wenona Foundation and The DalCorp Foundation, the DalCorp Scholarship provides a broad-based liberal education to young women who would not otherwise be able to attend Wenona. The DalCorp Foundation was launched in 2003 to engage in grant-making activities, primarily serving the Australian community, and is committed to providing educational opportunities for young people.

Renaissance Women's Scholarship

The Renaissance Women’s Scholarship offers a Wenona education to talented young women whose families are not in a position to provide one. It reflects Wenona’s long tradition of educating creative, thoughtful and resilient Renaissance women, students who graduate with confidence, intellectual curiosity and a commitment to service that reflects the School’s motto, Ut Prosim, that I may serve.
The Scholarship is offered to students entering Year 7, with Years 9 and 11 also considered.

  • Good character

The Barbara Jackson Alumnae Scholarship

The Barbara Jackson Scholarship recognises a young woman with a strong academic work ethic, who actively engages in community service, exhibits leadership qualities, and participates in the life of her school through co-curricular pursuits. Established in memory of Miss Barbara Jackson MBE, it honours her contribution in leading the School for 28 years.

The Wenona Indigenous Scholarship

The Wenona Indigenous Scholarship supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to undertake their secondary education at Wenona. Recipients demonstrate academic engagement, leadership qualities and a commitment to the life of the School and their wider community.
The Scholarship reflects Wenona’s respect for the First Peoples of this land and the School’s enduring belief that a diversity of perspectives enriches the education of every student.

Your questions answered

We accept applications from birth, and places are offered by enrolment priority and date of application. Priority is given to siblings and Alumnae families. We encourage families to apply early.

Our waiting lists follow a clear framework: application date and enrolment priority for siblings, daughters of Alumnae, and similar connections. This approach ensures fairness while honouring our established community bonds.
The current application fee is $400 (non-refundable).

Wenona offers numerous scholarships recognising academic merit, talent, and need. Explore scholarship opportunities here.
We value potential over test performance. Wenona isn’t academically selective—we seek students who will flourish in our supportive, challenging environment. New students in Years 3-10 complete orientation assessments in November, helping us understand how best to support their transition.
Wenona families are important to us. Having a daughter at the school gives your other daughters sibling priority on our waiting list. However, we require applications for every daughter, submitted well before enrolment processes begin, and places depend on availability.

Girls must turn 5 by 30 April of their Kindergarten year (see our Year of Entry calculation table). We strongly recommend starting within these guidelines for optimal educational progression. Special circumstances can be discussed individually with our Enrolments Office.
Every family attends an enrolment interview to allow us to learn about your daughter while sharing Wenona’s unique approach to education. One or both parents attend with their daughter, creating an opportunity for meaningful conversation about her needs and aspirations.
Every new student belongs from day one. All new girls attend orientation events in November before commencement, building friendships and confidence before their first official school day.
Please submit your application immediately, and our Enrolments Department will follow up to ensure all documentation arrives when available. Early application protects your daughter’s position.
A simple photocopy is sufficient.
Choose someone who knows your family well but is not related to you. For young applicants, we prefer family references rather than ones specific to the child. Please include the referee’s relationship duration with your family, their contact details, and relevant family insights to help us understand your values and goals.
Students are only classified as ‘international’ or ‘overseas’ if studying in Australia on a 500 Student Visa. Contact our Enrolments Department if you are uncertain about your daughter’s classification.
We understand that plans can change. Simply notify our Enrolments Department in writing, and we’ll adjust your daughter’s year of entry accordingly. She will join the new waiting list, maintaining her original application date.
Not at all. Your daughter moves to the new waiting list using her original application date—no disadvantage for adapting to your family’s needs.
Deferral means moving to the new year’s waiting list with your original application date. The Enrolment Confirmation Fee cannot be refunded or transferred, but your daughter maintains her application priority.
