Valedictory 2024
Wenona’s community came together, over the past week, to celebrate the achievements of the Class of 2024.
The celebrations began with a Gratitude Morning Tea on Monday – an opportunity for Year 12 to thank their teachers and the School as a whole, before being officially welcomed as Wenonians by the Alumnae Association. Olivia Edwards (2019) reflected on the challenges and highlights experienced during the five years after leaving school, which made a valuable impression on the cohort. Tessa, the newly appointed Class of 2024 Alumnae Representative, encouraged the new Alumnae to continue to fulfil the School motto, Ut Prosim, that I may serve, beyond the boundaries of the School campus.
Tuesday began with the traditional Valedictory Service at St Thomas’ Church, with family and friends proud to recognise a cohort with so much to contribute to the world. Year 12 students were then guided across campus by a tunnel of arms made up of students from Kindergarten to Year 11. This guard of honour finished at the Undercroft, where parents were waiting to join their daughters for Morning Tea.
The 2024 Graduation and Prize Giving Assembly provided the opportunity for a final address from Principal, Dr Scott, and Head of Senior College, Ms Restuccia. Focusing on the spirit of shared joy and mutual encouragement that makes Wenona so special, Ms Restuccia reminded this year group that their stories have shaped them into the people they are today.
Following a beautiful performance by the School Choir, Head Prefect, Mali, delivered a memorable speech, emphasising individuality and the power of connection.
The presentation of prizes included the announcement of Wenona’s Class of 2024 Dux Litterarum, Milly, and Dux Proximus, Emma.
Prefects, Litia and Sasha, provided a beautiful vote of thanks to their cohort, teachers and families, paying tribute to Wenona and the key values that will be carried with each student beyond the gates.
The ceremony concluded with the singing of Wenona’s School Song, a tribute to the place “we all adore”.
Wednesday night’s Valedictory Dinner rounded out the celebrations – filled with joy, nostalgia, and anticipation for the future; a fitting farewell to a remarkable group of young women.
