House identity and spirit is very strong at Wenona, and this was highlighted at our Interhouse Netball Competition this week. In an age where teamwork is often underrated, it was wonderful to see the girls supporting each other both on and off the court.
Lunchtimes disappeared in a haze of balls, whistles, bibs and scorecards as younger and older students from across Middle and Senior College, along with teachers from each House, came together to contest each match.
There were plenty of standout moments, as well as incredible individual achievements, but it was a very strong School House that went straight through to Friday’s final. There they faced off against Messiter House who had narrowly beaten Allard in a rip-roaring semi-final the day before.
Focus is a useful attribute in a sport so fast-paced that players leap about the court as if dodging bullets. The final was entertaining to watch, with great support from the sidelines. School created a superb wall of defence to keep Messiter at bay, but Messiter held their nerve to win the match with a 7 goal lead.
What a fantastic week of Netball it has been! Well done to everyone involved.
