Overseas Student Enrolment Process

Welcoming International Students to Wenona

Wenona is proud to welcome students from around the world to our nurturing and inclusive community.

Our Enrolments Office is happy to liaise directly with parents and families. Alternatively, you may wish to contact one of our International Education Agents (PDF 377.5KB) who may help you submit an application for your daughter at Wenona.

The School’s CRICOS contact is available to assist with any questions about enrolling as an international student on a student visa.

International students joining Wenona in Years 7 to 12 are required to live in our welcoming Boarding House during term time. During school holidays, exeat weekends, or illness, students return to the care of their families or guardians.

Students enrolling in Kindergarten to Year 6 – and occasionally those in Years 7 to 12 – may be granted permission by the Principal to live with a parent who resides full-time in Sydney and holds a valid Guardian Visa.

A strong wellbeing team supports our international students. The team includes an International Student Coordinator, Connect teachers, qualified EAL/D teachers, Heads of House, School Counsellors and the Careers Counsellor. Strong support is provided by the Head of Boarding, Ms Nonie Ayling, and the boarding community.

For detailed information about policies and procedures, please see our Wenona Overseas Student Handbook (PDF 22.1MB)

We are registered with both State and Federal Government departments to accept Full Fee Paying Overseas Students (CRICOS Provider Code 02275A).

Wenona welcomes overseas students and understands that an overseas student must be able to satisfactorily cope with the academic program as well as participate fully in the life of the School. Therefore, Wenona requires that any Overseas Student fulfil the following prerequisites for enrolment:

  • Satisfactory academic achievement: It is essential that the student has successfully achieved the necessary academic background to enable her to commence the course for which she wishes to enrol at Wenona. She must have studied her preferred subject choices in her previous school. We require submission of academic reports from the previous 2 years with the Application for Enrolment.
  • English proficiency: Overseas Students must be able to demonstrate competence in English and must provide a recent AEAS or IELTS assessment with her Application for Enrolment. It is Wenona’s expectation that students will enter the School with at least Upper Intermediate level English. In order to meet these standards, students may need to spend a period of intensive study at an Australian Language College.
  • Guardian and Student Welfare Arrangements: an Overseas Student must have a responsible adult appointed as her guardian. The guardian is to act as a parent in all matters relating to School policy, order and discipline. Please note that even when a student is 18 years of age or older the School still requires the same parental/guardian supervision as for all other students.

To submit an application, please complete the online application form.
