Overview

Teachers and students live and learn in an online world. Technology has changed how students learn and how teachers teach. It provides a variety of ways to learn and fosters independent thinking, problem solving and collaborative learning.

The promise and potential of the digital classroom are realities at Wenona. Each girl's learning is supported by laptop technology, allowing learning anywhere and any time.

Wenona's wireless laptop environment ensures that all students quickly learn to use technology to develop new academic and communication skills. From interactive whiteboards and lego robotics in our Junior School to individual laptops, digital media, and other electronic resources in our Middle School and Senior College, our digital environment takes girls into a new world of curriculum possibilities, allowing authentic engagement and involvement in their learning.

All girls from Year 6 to Year 12 use personal laptops in class and at home, to develop digital literacy, as research tools, and to improve their creative, logical and lateral thinking. Girls from Kindergarten to Year 5 have access to computer laboratories.

Through the integration of ICT technologies, we support Wenona's strong academic program by creating a community of online learners. Our girls can collaborate with students around the world in a global classroom, on global projects that make global connections. These authentic learning experiences, facilitated by technology, are the key purpose of our ICT program.

Girls, staff and parents can access Wenona's unique learning platform, the Wenona Portal, at school and from home. The Wenona Portal provides helpful information about school events and news of interest to the Wenona community and, for students details of resources and curriculum matters. It gives students and staff remote access to files stored on the School's servers from any web-enabled computer in the world.
