Wenona values and encourages student voice.
Leadership opportunities abound in Wenona's Junior School. From Kindergarten onwards, girls are encouraged to accept leadership positions in a variety of areas, both inside and outside the classroom.
Service to others is an integral part of life at Wenona.
We encourage girls to participate in activities which combine meaningful community service with time to reflect on what they learn from it. An important goal is to teach girls the value of leading lives that make a difference in their communities. Some specific Junior School activities are designed to raise awareness of family responsibilities, of environmental issues and of those with special needs in our community.
Wenona's outdoor education program provides girls with a range of challenging activities outside their usual environment through which they develop self-reliance, initiative and take responsibility for their own, and their group's, actions.
Girls in Years 3 to 6 are introduced to outdoor activities through a sequential program of specially designed camps. There is an emphasis on team building, problem solving and working together. Camp experiences are designed to develop leadership skills, to foster friendship, teamwork and cooperation, challenge a girl's individual comfort zone and extend her personal limits.
