Music

Wenona is very proud of its music program. Opportunities for performance arise throughout the school year, and the standard reached from our girls of all ages is quite remarkable.

Girls from Kindergarten to Year 2 play in Infants Strings or sing in the Infants Choir.

All girls from Years 3 to 8 are involved in at least one co-curricular music activity.

More than half the girls in Years 9 to 12 are involved in performing arts activities.

Music 1, Music 2 and Music Extension are offered at HSC level. These classes give girls the opportunity to develop their skills in performance, musicology and composition.

The quality and diversity of music at Wenona is impressive and enriching. The School provides opportunities for tuition, rehearsal and performance at various levels, in both instrumental and choral music.

Musical opportunities range from concerts in the Independent Theatre through musical productions with boys' schools to recitals within the School and the wider community. Recently, Wenona girls have worked with guest specialists including choral composer, Sarah Hopkins.

Visual Arts

The Visual Arts program has a long and established tradition of excellence at Wenona. Our staff are practising artists and offer rich learning experiences in a range of media – ceramics, graphics and illustration, photography (wet and digital), painting, drawing, mixed media, glass-slumping, sculpture (plaster and found objects) and printmaking.

Lunchtime extension classes are organised by staff for art students especially Year 12 girls developing their HSC Body of Work. Additional after-school enrichment classes are available to girls in Life Drawing, Glass Form, Painting, Graphics and Photography.

In Wenona's own exhibition space, the Judith Dey Gallery, students' work and the work of practising artists is exhibited annually.

Drama

Senior School Group Drama courses are dynamic and comprehensive, allowing girls to explore theatre and drama. We encourage our girls to develop their skills and interest through Wenona drama productions and musicals, and House plays.

Through our close ongoing relationships with nearby boys' schools, Wenona girls also have the opportunity to be involved in their drama and musical productions.
