Wenonians Inc, formerly known as the Wenona Old Girls Union, was established in 1926. It exists to preserve the link between past and present Wenona students and to promote the School's welfare.
Former students, known as Wenonians, enjoy keeping in touch with each other and attending functions locally, nationally and globally. Foundation Day in June each year commemorates the birthday of the school nearly 125 years ago.
Many present students are daughters or grand-daughters of Old Girls. There are even some fourth generation families: some students are great grand-daughters of girls who attended Woodstock, as Wenona was known in 1886.
Wenonians regularly return to Wenona to coach extra-curricular activities, such as debating and sports.
Many Wenona alumnae can pinpoint their record of success in tertiary studies and productive careers as testimony to the quality of a Wenona education.
More importantly, our former students' support of the School attests to their appreciation of the Wenona experience. The joy of learning together and the bonds of friendship they form with their classmates and with teachers keep our alumnae closely connected to Wenona, and passionately committed to its future.
Wenonians Inc undertakes a program of fundraising activities to support specific projects, such as the Wenonians Inc Scholarship, the Edith Hooke Memorial Scholarship, and annual prizes for a wide range of achievements.
Wenonians also assist school staff and students through careers assistance, acting as mentors, providing work experience placements and engaging in mock interviews for prospective job seekers. The Annual WINC Careers Expo is an impressive display of WINC women in action, sharing their achievements and dreams with students across the entire senior school cohort, from Year 7 to Year 12. The Careers Night booklet linked below reveals a great range of careers and the generous sharing of talent amongst our young alumnae.
