Foundation

Wenona has had a tradition of philanthropy from the time when, in 1958, Wenona's principal and owner, Miss Edith Ralston and her family transferred Wenona to a company, Wenona School Limited, for a fraction of its real value so that Wenona would live on after her death.

Over the years, many others have supported Wenona by donations and bequests. This has significantly assisted Wenona's continuing development and long-term future.

The Wenona Foundation, established in 1999, seeks support for the School through donations, pledges and bequests to ensure the continuation of the vision of the School's founders and to safeguard Wenona's future independence. It provides links within the Wenona community, especially among parents, staff, Old Girls and other friends of the School.

It helps girls and staff enjoy learning and teaching in the best possible environment, and works to ensure that future generations of Wenonians will do the same.

The Foundation has four funds:

  • Building Fund (tax deductible)
  • Scholarship Fund (tax deductible)
  • Library Fund (tax deductible)
  • Education Fund (non tax deductible)

The Foundation also has an active Bequest program. In 2007, the Edith Ralston Fellowship was established to acknowledge and thank people who decide to leave a bequest to Wenona.

The Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors, assisted by a Fundraising Committee and a Bequest Committee. The Directors and Committee members are usually parents, past parents and former students. For additional information about the Foundation, please contact the School on (61 2) 9955 3000 or the Wenona Foundation.
