Boarding at Wenona will be fun, and a vibrant and formative experience for your daughter.
We pride ourselves on providing a safe, supportive and understanding home for all girls in our care. We aim to provide a boarding environment that offers independence, privacy, flexibility, fun and the opportunity to pursue a range of academic and other activities.
A boarder's life is a busy one. We help each girl develop effective time management techniques and skills in community living.
Living in a close-knit, supportive and diverse community, girls learn essential social skills, such as communication, compromise and cultural awareness. Boarders learn to appreciate other points of view and to treat each other with consideration.
Boarding has been a special part of Wenona's life since 1922. Today up to 60 girls from Years 7 to 12 live in four Boarding Houses on the edge of the senior campus in Ridge Street, North Sydney, close to St Leonard's Park. The smallish size of the boarding community means that no girl is just a number or gets lost in the system. Individual care is guaranteed.
Our boarders come from many places - country areas, Sydney, and overseas. Many of our international students were born in Australia, but their parents are working overseas. Boarding at Wenona means they can continue to enjoy the benefits of the NSW education system and the learning environment of Wenona.
Boarders' varied backgrounds create a diverse and cosmopolitan boarding community. This flows over into the day school. There is a strong sense of mutual support, infectious energy and shared purpose. Boarders make lifelong friends.
Wenona's central location and its proximity to the Sydney CBD provide opportunities for various cultural learning experiences after school and at weekends.
The Director of Boarding leads a team of dedicated and experienced staff who are responsible for the individual care and comfort of girls. Boarding House staff are carefully chosen to support a home away from home for students from many different backgrounds.
We know we can never replace parents in a girl's life and we regard that relationship as the most important a girl can have. So, we see our relationship with you as a partnership, and we welcome discussion about your daughter's welfare at any time.
